ProtoSpace offers grained finish as a standard option within our
fast 2–3-day leadtime.
Your part is de-burred, and then given a specific linear grain direction
via brushing. It is the aesthetically superior option for bare finish
for parts or enclosures that will be displayed.
We can apply grained finish on the following materials:
• Standard Finish
• #3 Finish: 40-60 RA (surface finish)
• #4 Finish: 20-40 RA (surface finish)
• Standard Finish
• #4 Finish: 20-40 RA (surface finish)
• Cold Rolled Steel: A grained finish can be applied; however, it is recommended only when a third plating finish, such as tin plating, is added. Grained finish alone should be avoided, as the parts will rust.
• Galvanneal: We do not recommend Grained finish, as it will remove the zinc-iron alloy coating.
• Copper: While a grained finish can be applied, it is not recommended. If you have this requirement, get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
• Permanent Markings: Laser Marking, Engrave and Fill, Machined Engraving, Dot Peening, Rubber Stamping
• Graphics: Digital Print and Silkscreen
• Cannot be applied if the length is less than 0.5" and the width is less than 0.5".
• Can only be applied to accessible flat exterior faces on machined parts.
• Applied to sheet metal parts before the bending process.
